Trout

Ok...so I'm generally a warm water guy.....but there is a small stream by me with brookies in it......For some reason I love these trout more than any other.......During the week before work, I usually have about 2 hours in the morning that I go and fish....It's just enough time to go and catch 4-5 brookies in the 6-14 inch range.......This small stream holds a special place in my heart....Very secluded even though it's off of a busy street....The place I fish is not the common spot, there is a section that is heavily fished, I stay as far from there as possible.....Its beautiful, quiet, and filled with native brookies and wild life.....I've seen otters, woodchucks, all sorts of birds, flowers, wild lillies......this is the beginning of my boxes for my brook trout sanctuary.....

Sinking deer hair

The idea of making a floating fly material into a full sinking material is interesting. So here's what I did....Stacked deer hair, jointed or articulated, marabou and hackle feathers......Heavily weighted and trimmed to roughly a fish shape, multi-colored so it's a general fish coloring.....It sinks, and moves all over in the water.....Should be a fish catcher.....

popper

Had some extra time...thought I'd make another popper tonight

classic gear

From time to time I feel it's good as a creative fly tyer to check out conventional tackle for ideas and patterns....Some of those lure companies produce some interesting items....I have always been a fan of classic hula poppers for bass.....Here is my homage to a red and white hula popper.....

Winter in the Northeast is a time to tie flies and reload the boxes for warm water anglers. I make a lot of spun and stacked deer hair flies. There is nothing like top water fishing. These are a few of my flies......
This is a new venue I am starting for those who wish to follow my fly fishing adventures and fly tying creations. I am a warm water fly angler in pursuit of game fish in New York State. My main focus is Smallmouth Bass, (Bronzeback), but throughout this journey there will be many predatory fish written about. Welcome and feel free to comment on my entries.....SmallieStalker
