Flies

I recently picked up a material called DNA Holo Fusion....Neat stuff.....Here's some new poppers with propellers as well.....

Went out to a little lake close to me...A favorite spot for buckets, pickerel and panfish....Hammered down....threw everything from top to bottom.....Bright colors, dark colors, neutral colors.....One pickerel...That's why it's fishing and not catching....Beautiful morning though....Some great brainstorming ideas came to me today while paddling around.....Wait till these flies are produced...Stay tuned....Oh yeah...Orange belly frog.....That's it....

Weather has been off....fishing has been off....this was one of four little smallies from the res. today.....trophy hunting is not working this week....

It's a difficult proposition stalking shallow smallies in a crystal clear resevoir when every step you take needs careful placement or you land in a pile of goose shit.....Back to the resevoit today, tied up a bucktail streamer to imitate a rainbow trout...Size 6....about 2 1/2 inches long....Caught 4 little guys...No pics, they were only 10 inches....I had one of the larger ones folloe and strike several times but no commitment....Then I lost the fly to a rock fish.....I will post of pic of the new one...These resevoir smallies are the current biggest thorn in my side....I guess they didn't get that size by being stupid....Silly fisherman....What am I thinking....Tight lines...

Went out on a limb today and tried a lake that I've never really fished before....Big lake....It's fed by a river that I know but have never fished...Found a nice swampy lily padded area to throw some bugs.....Caught 2 nice large mouths and 2 pickerel with the orange bellied frog diver.....Moved to the main part of the lake.....1 more pickerel, 1 rock bass and 1 smallie, throwing a little grey mouse for those......Unfortunetly most of my photos for some reason did not save...So here's 2...Enjoy....

Interview

Sunday....June 13, 2010....I made the front page of the Sports Section in the Schenectady Gazette...I was interviewed by Morgan Lyle on my fly tying...Check it out...He did a hell of a job.....I'm also in New York Outdoor News for my bass bugs...

URRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGG......went to a trout resevoir today because I heard there are smallies in there as well......Well there are, and they are huge.......They were all lurking in the shallows, big ones, small ones, some trout swimming about as well.....I threw everything I could, some of these smallies had to go 4 or 5 pounds....I caught 2 little tiny guys, 8 inchers, I had one huge fish follow but he took off last minute. The others would just sit there looking at me....I do believe that they are eating little trout. Going to need to tie up some trout imitations....There are tigers, browns, rainbows and some brookies in there. I'm pretty sure I will be the only person up there targeting small mouth...haha....oh yeah...my new challenge....
