I caught another smaller one on a yellow zoo cougar.....
Then the biggest pickerel I've ever caught out of this lake...but....broke it off at the boat due to me not using a net...haha....Caught another pickerel in pic....Got him using a clouser minnow....
I played around with a few new patterns that were sent to me, tied by Matt Erny from Michigan, the Big Eyed Frog had a violent strike that went straight through 50 lb braid.....The grey and white minnow pattern also brought on terrific strikes but no hook sets.....The water is warming....oh yeah....
What a beautifull catches, specially the chain pickerel!!! gorgeous fish, congratulations.
ReplyDeleteNice looking fish. What a difference regions make I fished this afternoon in 72 degree weather with water temps between 72 and 73. What weight rod are you using and length? That Pickerel had to ge a blast on the fly, why is it that the big ones always managed to get away? I don't know if you have heard of Walt filies but to me they are some of the best detailed filies on the market, I use them all the time. This is a link to their webstite. ReplyDeleteBill....9 ft. 6 wt....If it's not windy, otherwise I use a 9 ft 8 wt....Thanks for checking it out....I'll have to look at Walt's flies...I tie all of my own stuff though....
