5-8-11....Motor adventure

This is the new (old) canoe that I purchased. Oscodo 17 foot fiberglass canoe from 1986...I through a 40lb thrust trolling motor on it for fun as well...I have to say, I'm used to my yak so being in this thing, sitting down...is a little tough. It's a little unstable at first, but once you figure out the balance it's not too bad. Casting is a bit of a challenge sitting down as well, but it's manageable. Now...I've never really had a boat with a motor, especially a canoe. We had a few close call tip overs...but we managed in the end to not get wet. My buddy Dustin and I motored all over this lake and had a blast.

The porn...
Dustin with his first Rock Bass on the fly...and a little Smallie as well...

One of the things that I enjoy the most about fly fishing is the wildlife. These little turtles were everywhere basking in the sun today...probably making up for the cloud and rain filled post winter we've been having...

My first couple of Smallmouth were hooked up with my Fleeing Bucktail fly...It's my take on a Half and Half...This one was tied in yellow...They were smashing it...

A few of my catches for the day...We got into Smallies, some Largemouth, Bluegills, Crappie and Rock Bass....My Flashback Damsel Fly Nymph was a killer today....Fish after fish, every species ate it today....

Tight Lines and Screaming Reels....

  1. Looks like a good day. I used to have a very similar set up- an Old Town Discovery Sport and a 30 lb thrust Minn Kota. It was fun, but I must say I enjoy my kayaks more.
